The next phase of Kahaani has brought the stories and experiences from our archive to life through a new short film, inspired by the 50 voices collected through the project. Supported by Create Studios, the film explores themes of migration, identity, belonging and what it means to call somewhere “home,” celebrating the diversity and resilience of communities across the South West.

Filmed in January 2026, the short film is now in post-production, with young creatives working alongside professional filmmakers and industry practitioners to shape the project from concept through to the final screen. The production has provided opportunities for young people to gain hands-on experience and contribute creatively to a film rooted in the real experiences and voices of the Kahaani archive.

 

As we move towards completing the film, we hope to share Kahaani with audiences through community screenings and, where possible, submit the film to festivals, helping to amplify the voices and stories of the South West to wider audiences.
