Abdul Hussain
Abdul is the son of one of the first Pakistani Muslim men to settle in Swindon.
Growing up in a strict household during the 1960s and 70s, he witnessed firsthand the cultural isolation and systemic racism his community faced. His father played a foundational role in Swindon’s Muslim community, conducting the town’s first Muslim funeral and offering hospitality to fellow migrants.
Abdul pursued a career in the British Navy and later ran a successful chauffeur business in London. Despite experiencing racism, including during his son's promising football career he maintains strong faith in British society, cultural integration, and the values of kindness and honesty.
