Azim Khan
Azim Khan was born in 1940 in what is now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
Recruited into the British Merchant Navy by a British officer, he traveled the world, served with distinction, and transitioned into engineering in the UK. After arriving in Swindon in 1969, he took on leadership roles in factories and became a trusted representative of South Asian workers.
Beyond work, he played a foundational role in establishing Swindon’s first mosque and cultural centre. Azim believes in integration without assimilation preserving traditions while participating fully in British society. A strong advocate for education and interfaith unity, his life has been one of quiet dignity and service.
