Bijendra Singh Birnarayan
Bijendra, born and raised in Rajasthan, India, began his professional journey in the hospitality sector.
Coming from a farming family, he learned cooking from a young age as his parents worked in the fields. He went on to train and work for 11 years in India’s prestigious Taj Group of Hotels, where he earned awards and recognition. In 2008, he moved to the UK after being recruited by a restaurant, choosing to pursue better opportunities for his family.
Though initially disillusioned by the difference between UK restaurant standards and five-star hotels in India, he adapted quickly. Bijendra later opened his own restaurant in Yeovil and eventually diversified into other work, becoming a Greggs store manager while also running a takeaway. He takes pride in his resilience and work ethic, and although he is now a British citizen, he maintains a strong Indian identity and cultural connection, ensuring his children are brought up with Indian values. His long-term goal remains to eventually return to India once his children's futures are secured.
