Indu Sharma

Indu Sharma, grew up in a progressive, disciplined family in North India, primarily in Rishikesh and Delhi.

Raised in a household that placed extraordinary value on education particularly for girls she was encouraged to excel, despite prevailing norms. Her grandfather proudly celebrated her birth with sweets, rejecting societal expectations that only boys were worthy of such fanfare. Indu recalls being told from a young age that she would "shine" the family name, a message that fuelled her ambition and confidence.

After pursuing a university education and teaching politics, her life changed when she met her future husband, an NRI , during a holiday in Delhi. Her journey reflects a balance of tradition and independence: she followed her cultural values while also pursuing higher education, music, and dance (SAPAC). She remains proud of her roots and grateful for the opportunities created by her family’s forward-thinking outlook.
