Poonam Paranjpe

Poonam arrived in the UK for her second master's degree, initially planning to study in the US.

Growing up in an international environment with a father in the airforce, she was exposed to diverse cultures. Moving to Bournemouth in 2008, she sought connections with other South Asian people. She valued the UK’s emphasis on equality and raised her son with those same values.

Poonam missed her parents but stayed connected through calls, inspired by her sister’s journey in the US. She helped establish an Indian society in Bournemouth to support newcomers and create a platform for cultural exchange. She emphasises the importance of sharing stories about past struggles and promoting unity among generations.
