Surinder moved from Punjab to Chippenham, England, at 17 to join his father.

He quickly adapted to life, learning English, working at Westinghouse for decades, and forming close friendships with both English and South Asian neighbours. He valued family, hard work, and education, ensuring all his children attended university.

Balancing his Indian heritage with life in England, Surinder emphasises honesty, kindness, and maintaining family unity, while reflecting on the joys of community, social connection and cultural traditions.
